This leisurely walk is sure to entice nature lovers with a slice of the Mojave Desert’s unique floral display. Walkers will learn about the native flora, as well as the native fauna that rely on it for food and shelter. The Quail Mountain ecosystem is home to many annuals and perennials, such as Desert Dandelion, Checker Fiddleneck, Mojave Aster, Desert Mallow, Desert Senna, and many others. Visitors will also encounter the many plants that define this iconic landscape – Mojave Yucca, Beavertail Cactus, and Creosote Bush just to name a few.
The Wildflower Walk will be led by engaging and extremely knowledgeable desert naturalist, Pat Flanagan, and is approximately 2 hours in duration. Visitors will meet at the Joshua Tree Visitor Center at 12:45pm, where they will carpool to the Quail Mountain Project area.
The cost for the interpretive Wildflower Walk is $10 for members and non-members. Reservations are required. Register online at www.mojavedesertlandtrust.org or call 760-366-5440.
