Hike: Wildflower Hike (Joshua Tree National Park) The colorful blooms of our desert cacti and wildflowers against the otherwise muted browns and greens of the desert is a site to behold. People travel from all over for this special time of the year in the Mojave. It is hard to determine where and when our wildflowers and desert cacti decide to show their beauty to the world; it all depends on our fall and winter precipitation and spring temperatures. We will post the location of the hike on or before March 10 and notify the registered hikers. If there are no blooms, a hike will take place regardless. This educational hike will be led by desert naturalist Mark Wheeler, who will pass his knowledge and passion for the desert’s flora and fauna on to you.

Hike Level and Length: Easy, approx. 3:4 miles round trip. Very mild elevation gain

Meet: Parking lot of the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center located at 6554 Park Blvd, Joshua Tree at 12:00pm to form a carpool, which leaves promptly at 12:15. Carpoolers will need to pitch in for the JTNP car pass fee.
